Nira Spa of the renowned Shanti Maurice comes up with unique ranges of therapies, which features regimes of Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedanta, banded with the latest like Hydrotherapy, Cocoons, Body Polishes, Fusion Massage and Watsu treatments.

This combines to give a complete healing effect with the balance between inner and outer self.

The two new treatments launched this summer are:

a) Devifacial: A sacred journey in which the spirit is metamorphosed into a space of pure ecstacy. The therapists would predict the appropriate product that will suit one’s skin and would remove all the uneasiness from it. The skin would love the sacred treatment it would receive.

b) Sega Ritual: Sega Ritual is always performed on the beach with bonfires. The fire is a symbolic expression of the spirit always incited to stay positive. The massage is done with deep hydrating coconut butter, fused with pure frangipani flower extracts. After the ritual is over, the guest is served rum-cocktail.

Highlighting its commitment to offering guests something new, something different, something unexpected, LIME Spa at Desert Palm has introduced classic cult beauty brand Eve Lom. Guests can now indulge in her two signature facials; Eve Signature – a 90 minute facial for AED620, designed to address the skins needs through deep cleansing and exfoliation; while for those where time is of the essence there is the 60 minute Ultimate Cleanse for AED495. Eve Lom’s philosophy is based on the fact that every living organism pulsates with energy, sending out information about the physical, biological and emotional state of the body. Through regular cleansing, decongesting and exfoliation this energy can be regulated to help maintain healthy skin. The Eve Lom facial comprises of an evaluation of the present skin condition, application of the appropriate individual treatment using her highly acclaimed skin care products, lymphatic massage and acupressure to encourage decongestion, extractions and finally re-education to promote healthy skin function. Both facials use the Eve Lom signature product – the Eve Lom Cleanser, an award winning product that has been famously hailed by Vogue Magazine as ‘probably the best cleanser in the world’. More than just a cleanser this is a grooming ritual in a jar that will help transform the condition of the skin. It’s also known for being the ‘secret addition’ to ‘those in the know’, a must-have product among many high profile celebrities. Eve Lom cleanser contains four essential oils with cleansing, decongesting and soothing properties. The unique formula used with a specially woven muslin cloth means you only need one product – no need for a separate, cleanser, exfoliator, toner, eye makeup remover or shaving cream for men; this one indulgent cleanser does it all – making it a popular product for men as well as women.

The ‘House of Africa’ will treat guests using indigenous herbs and treatments reflecting the ancient curative methods which run so deep in African cultures. Treatments within the ‘House of Africa’ are drawn from the traditional Maasai medicine of East Africa and provided under the guidance of third generation Maasai healers Ole Labiki Menyaengara and Ole Sululu using medicinal plants and herbs grown on site. The ‘House of Asia’ will feature Tibetan Herbal Medicine, using traditional remedies and products from Tibet, administered by experienced doctors of one of the world’s oldest forms of healing. Based on the five elements – Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Space – Tibetan medicine is focused on maintaining a balance of all the elements, using blood pressure, eating habits and observation of sleep habits to formulate diagnoses. The third, the ‘House of India’, will offer Ayurvedic treatments under the supervision of expert medical practitioners, and treatments will include specialised Panchakarma detox and weight management programmes. All products used in the treatments are personally created for each individual using natural product from Kerala. The ‘House of India’ programme also incorporates Ayurvedic cooking sessions and fitness and leisure activities to complement the Ayurvedic treatments. All experiences are personalised following an initial health consultation intended to address the specific needs of the individual. Retreat programmes of three to 21 nights are also available, as are dedicated retreats for women and for executives, which incorporate learning seminars. A truly unique aspect of the healing philosophy at Zamani Retreat Kempinski is captured in its monthly signature retreats: founded on the belief that wellness can be inspired in many different ways, intellectual and cultural stimulation will play a key role and the retreats will be hosted by icons from worlds as diverse as sport and entertainment and as well as wellness in its monthly Signature Retreats. Signature restaurant ‘The Spice Market’ places emphasis on traditional authentic global cuisine with a contemporary healing twist, while Tri Dosha offers Ayurvedic fusion cuisine featuring vegetarian and vegan dishes against a backdrop of stunning sea views.

Thailand is looking to position itself as a global leader in medical tourism with the launch of a new portal offering visitors all they need to know on everything from traditional Thai medical practitioners to cosmetic surgery. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) site, www.thailandmedtourism.com, collects and provides information on medical tourism providers across the country, including hospitals, clinics and spas. Authorities hope that the country can join the ranks of established medical tourism destinations such as Malaysia, Singapore and the US. Visitors can search by destination and also view associated travel options such as hotels and restaurants, with authorities hoping that additional choices will boost both interest and trip length to Thailand. The website is the first stage of a campaign which will see blogger reviews and a campaign to emphasise the credibility and safety of medical services in Thailand. Boosting medical tourism was just one of the tactics outlined by TAT earlier this year when it unveiled its plan to rebuild Thailand’s popularity as a tourist destination after the civil unrest in the country in April. Next month, a new wellness complex is opening on island of Phuket. The Phuket International Academy Sports and Leisure Club (PIASLC) is a leading-edge development that is poised to become Asia’s pre-eminent competition, training and event complex. The PIASLC marked its international launch at the World Sport Destination Expo (WSDE) in Johannesburg during the final week of the FIFA 2010 World Cup.
